SAFETY FIRST: The Precondition for Building Trust, Engagement and Collaboration at Work

    Friday, October 13, 2017

    Program Description

All organizations have a culture, either by default or design. Some are enhancing and inspiring while others are non-enhancing and toxic. Teams and organizations with enhancing and inspiring cultures enjoy a competitive advantage by unleashing the discretionary emotional energy of people at work. We call these collaborative environments Green Zone Cultures.

Green Zone Cultures are deliberately designed to be positive, safe interpersonal environments characterized by safety, trust and caring. It is in these environments that human energy soars, employees care about their work and each other and together they achieve extraordinary results. The key to building these environments is psychological safety. Feeling safe frees people to speak openly and honestly with one another, to relax, be curious and ask questions without fear of ridicule or embarrassment. These interactions pave the way for greater levels of cooperation, faster and better decision making, more innovative problem solving, increased accountability and more accurate execution. Side affects include: increased job satisfaction, greater health and well-being, higher retention rates and a more engaged workforce.

    Learning Objectives

    1. Identify what helps and what hurts in cultivating psychological safety and how to translate these ideas into action at work.
    2. Understand the effect of interpersonal neurobiology on work relations and choose more supportive actions to create a trust-based work environment.
    3. See how their own attitude and intention impact their ability to influence others and build trust, engagement and collaboration at work.

This program includes a book for registered attendees!

"Radical Collaboration: Five Essential Skills to Overcome Defensiveness and Build Successful Relationships" by James Tamm and Ronald Luyet
