Program Description

"Change Management: Getting It Right" with Susan Richards

The goal of our session will be to introduce the group to the topic of change management and how to set your organization on a positive and successful course for change. Specifically, we will cover how to:

  • Develop a change management strategy outline/framework for your project;
  • Identify your change management team members and prepare them for their role on the project ;
  • Identify your project sponsors and assess what they need to know to be effective on the project.

We will talk about how to increase the probability of your projects’ success, manage resistance to change and build change competency in the organization.  We will utilize the ADKAR methodology (Prosci) to frame the conversation and give you some real-world examples of how to get started and how to ensure the change sticks. The five building blocks of ADKAR critical for successful and effective change management program include:

  • Awareness of the need for change
  • Desire to participate and support the change
  • Knowledge on how to change
  • Ability to implement required skills and behaviors
  • Reinforcement to sustain the change

This will be a presentation format diving into several of the critical areas of approach and will include group discussion and a hands-on exercise.
