You will also learn how one of the nation’s largest hospital systems has used the Magic Sauce and DT. Also included, is a brief overview of FHIL (Florida Hospital Innovation Lab) and the elements that keep it relevant and sustainable.

Speaker Bio
Karen Tilstra, PhD
Karen believes everyone is creative with leadership potential. She claims the world would be a whole lot happier if everyone embraced this truth. Until they do, her aspiration is to help anyone interested in learning how.
Karen co-founded of the award-winning FHIL, Florida Hospital Innovation Lab; who Adventist Health System’s Chief Strategy Officer, believes is one of the Florida Hospital’s most transformational initiatives. Karen co-created the Orlando Magic's Innovation Lab and co-designed one of the nation's first undergraduate degree in Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship at Rollins College. She enjoyed helping San Diego State Design launch their Design Thinking Idea Lab. Her most recent projects are helping Santa Clara University become a Design Thinking campus, and Pioneers International Institute develop a culture of Innovation.
Karen has presented both nationally and internationally to Fortune 500 companies, universities and small healthcare device companies ranging from developing innovation teams, creating innovative labs and spaces, and developing cultures of innovation. She has taught on the university level in both the USA and Asia and is currently a visiting professor at Rollins College.
Karen holds a Ph.D. degree in Innovation and leadership; EdS degree in Educational Psychology. She is a licensed Educational Psychologist who ran a private practice for more than 10 years. She also earned an MA in Counseling Psychology; and a BS in Journalism. Currently, Karen serves as the Executive Fellow for Innovation at the University of Santa Clara, as well as serving as board members for Rollins College School of Business, European Medical Partners, and Andrews University Change Maker Lab.
