I know we said that we would discuss this in April meeting, but .. can anyone share their recommendations on best/cheapest app/software to record and edit  video?

There is a challenge answering "Best" and "Cheapest". Ha! Ha!

    Recording video:
Most people already have a Smartphone.  In the last two years most smartphones have camera's of sufficient quality to record good video.  The alternative in the lower cost range is an iPad.  If you already own one of these, your video recording device is already paid for.  Hand held video cameras can be purchased in the $50-$100 range on Amazon.

For good quality pictures, remember that good video depends on good lighting much more than the video recording device. An adequate three point lighting kit will cost in the region of $129-$150.  Even more important is good quality sound.  Lavalier neck mikes on Amazon start at $25 upwards depending on how many mikes you require (typically two).

    Video Editing
The easiest editing software to use is:  Camtasia.  You can get a 30 day free trial after which it costs only $199 to purchase plus $45 for a maintenance contract.
