External Consulting Community of Practice -- July 28, 2017

2nd Annual Consulting Best Practices

The External Consultant Community of Practice will hold its second Best Practices Session, and we will hear from several talented members.  There will be 4 different topics covered in this one session!

Quality Driven Performance Excellence: Quality as a Culture Change

 Speaker: Patrick Donnally

With a focus on Quality (specifically Quality Driven Performance Excellence), any consultant in any industry anywhere in the world can successfully bring about significant improvement in overall organizational performance.

In this top level presentation, we develop the logical connection from something as "soft" as Quality, to concrete KPIs such as profit, customer satisfaction, productivity, innovation, and ultimately to the engagement of every employee in the organization.  Underlying all of this is the value of a quality-driven culture.

Successful Training and Change Initiatives: Importance of Front Line  Managers and Supervisors in Creating Engagement

 Speaker: Meredith Willenbring

Research shows that training is more successful and more positively perceived by employees when managers are engaged and partner with employees when it comes to training activities

This presentation will focus on the importance of the role of the front line supervisor/manager. Specifically it will discuss how the role of the front line manager/supervisor is vital to success of training when implementing a wide reaching change initiative. It will include practical application of ways that change leaders can help managers become an engagement training partner.

8 Facets of Leadership and Team Development

Speakers: Isabella Johnston & Bjoerg Winter Larsen

Many organizations are experiencing challenges with internal communication, customer service and team dynamics due to exponential growth, poor leader awareness or poor communication channels.

This presentation will demonstrate how the e-stimate tool aligns with the forecasted skill demands and provides a deeper and longer effect that enhances awareness and communication for individuals through actionable initiatives that are easy to understand, remember and implement in everyday worklife.

Reduce Resistance, Accelerate Change: A Journalistic Approach to Change Communications

 Speaker: Jennifer Crowell

The field of organizational change management addresses the people side of change, and an overall organizational change management strategy and plan includes communication as a key lever for reducing resistance and accelerating adoption of the change. Change practitioners have taken care to incorporate communication best practices. We have borrowed strategies, processes, tactics, and tools from several specialties within the field of communication – strategic communication, corporate communication, organizational communication, project communication and employee communication, to name a few.

Learn the fundamental journalistic approaches to communicating change, and gain the tools to develop key messages that address specific types of resistance and barriers to adoption.
