HR Needs You (Desperately), But You Need HR Too
Human Resources is in crisis mode. When Harvard Business Review dedicates an entire issue to “It’s Time to Blow Up HR,” you know it’s getting serious. Organization development partners are the next best hope for HR, as the knowledge and tools they routinely deploy would help HR to lead the people part of the business at both a macro and micro level. Too often, however, OD competes with HR for the ear of operational leaders because HR doesn’t recognize the depth of the skillset that OD brings to the table and think they can “lead change” or “build team.”
At the same time, for OD to function apart from HR ignores the very foundation of developing organizations – systems thinking. Every program and process designed and implemented by HR is a communication tool for operational leaders, whether performance management, compensation or employee relations. If those programs are not in synch with the developmental work of OD practitioners, it creates confusion and often mixed messages. In this program, we will explore key touchpoints where the intersection of HR and OD must come together to help our organizations.
Attendees will come away with a heightened sense of understanding and urgency about how HR message points for leaders and the workforce can be repurposed in order to make a measurable contribution to the organization’s bottom line.
