Work-Life Integration for Young Women Leaders & Their Managers: Thriving at Work and Home
Cathleen Swody, Ph.D. will share the results of her firm’s research and provide advice for younger women in the workforce and their managers. LeaderMom is her research with a cross-industry panel of high-performing women leaders who were hand-selected as high-performing senior leaders and engaged parents. The goal is to shift the conversation from the unhelpful questions, like “Can women have it all?” to questions that bring real insights and practical advice, such as “Based on your experience, what would you recommend to the managers of leader like you?”.
The content of this session will be structured around several findings derived from the LeaderMom series of research studies with lessons for all of us, whether we are parents or not.
For GOOD members and their organizations, this research has the potential to improve the retention of women leaders and the diversity of senior leadership teams by:
- Providing a more useful storyline for women leaders rather than the "can't have it all" narrative dominating the media
- Disseminating 3 teachable keys to keeping women engaged and thriving at work and home
- Focusing on what better managers do to help keep LeaderMoms engaged at work
- Offering a forum for LeaderMoms in GOOD members’ organizations to join a larger, national dialogue about what works
LEARNING OBJECTIVES FOR GOOD MEMBERS:
- Recognize how LeaderMoms have found ways to thrive in the lives they have created
- Examine the specific skills to which LeaderMoms attribute their success
