Coaching for Performance: Leader as Coach

Coaching for Performance: Leader as Coach is a 2 1⁄2-hour workshop that explores the Leader as Coach approach within organizations as well as highlights practical techniques for leaders to successfully identify and address performance deficiencies through mentoring and coaching. Participants will also engage in a variety of experiential activities including, but not limited to, interactive discussions, relevant and motivational video clips, and practical application of concepts through hands on learning activities. Ultimately, this workshop will provide practical tools and techniques, which can be readily applied in the workplace.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore what the Leader as Coach approach is and isn’t.

  • Describe the three key premises of the coaching process.

  • Experience how to identify and address performance deficiencies through mentoring and coaching.

  •  Identify the attitudes and behaviors of successful coaches. 


Speaker: Charlene Rousseau, PhD

Dr. Rousseau earned her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology from Capella University, her Master of Science degree in the same field from Carlos Albizu University, and her Bachelor of Arts General Psychology degree from Florida Atlantic University. Her research interests areas are Adult Learning, Distance and Online Education, Training and Development, Learning and Organizational Development, Diversity and Inclusion, and Work Life Balance. 

Her published work includes Balancing Work, Family, and Student Roles: A Phenomenological Study of the Adult Female Online Learner.  Dr. Rousseau has  over 13 years of  training, facilitation, and coaching experience in multiple industries. She conducts executive coaching, provides organizational development consulting, facilitates executive training sessions and team building initiatives, manages training curricula design, and leads complex L&OD projects for 10 government agencies and private sector clients both locally and internationally. Dr. Rousseau serves on the Board of Advisors for the International Movement Network and Keiser University’s graduate Industrial/Organizational Psychology program.
