With high turnover of executives and key leaders expected in the next few years, a thoughtful succession plan is essential for today’s changing workplace. As key positions are vacated, organizations become more vulnerable. This session will provide best practices to help participants address leadership capabilities and gaps. Due to the retirement of Baby Boomers, global business shifts, technological disruptions, and lack of leadership pipelines, a smooth transition, especially at the executive level, is key to the stability and sustainability of organizations.
3 Best Practices for effective succession:
Identify critical roles and future leadership competency needs for those roles in alignment with the organization’s strategy
Evaluate who, within existing employees, would most likely fill future critical roles
Assess and develop potential candidates - identify what they can do today, what they need to do in future roles, and what developmental opportunities are needed for them to succeed. Then evaluate whether to promote internally or hire externally.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a review of succession planning models and ways to most effectively assess performance and potential of “candidates”; impactful implementation strategies; self-assessments and interactive group activities facilitated by certified and experienced OD consultants.
